Races of Tamriel

There are ten different playable races in Morrowind which includes four human races, three elven races and three beast races. Each of the races have their own unique traits and abilities although you can of course set them up as any character class you wish. Below is a collection of the different races and their homelands within Tamriel.

Name: Argonians
Classification: Beast
Homeland: Black Marsh (Argonia)
Characteristics: A Lizard like race used to swampy conditions.

Argonians are reptilian race that live in the Black Marsh.  Their natural abilities make it so that they are equally affective on both land and in water (basically they can breathe underwater).  Having defended their homeland for many years the Argonians have developed immunities to all diseases. They also have become experts at warfare. They can use weapons and stealth to their advantage as well as the magical arts.  They also seem to have a resistance to poison.

Name: Bretons
Classification: Human
Homeland: High Rock
Characteristics: Humans with a leaning towards magic.

The Bretons come from the province of High Rock.  They are born with the an inborn bond to the magical forces and many great sorcerers have come from this race. And many of the Bretons have a natural higher resistance to destructive magic and dominating magical energies.

Name: Dark Elves (also Dunmer)
Classification: Elf
Homeland: Morrowind
Characteristics: Well balanced warrior race.

The Dark Elves or the "Dunmer" as they call themselves live in Morrowind.  Combining strength and agility with powerful intellect this race of elves produce strong warriors and mages alike and can even produce powerful Spellswords.

Name: High Elves (also Altmer)
Classification: Elf
Homeland: Summerset Isle
Characteristics: Elven race especially adept in the magic arts.

High Elves or the "Altmer" as they call themselves are a race of proud and strong willed people who live in Summerset Isle.  Many of the Empires writings and art have been based on the High Elves.  Their natural arcane abilities make it so that they are strong mages and are more immune to diseases than most of the lesser races.  They excel mostly in areas that make a person good at magic, Intelligence and Willpower.

Name: Imperials
Classification: Human
Homeland: Cyrodil
Characteristics: Diplomatically skilled race.

The Imperials are natives of the city Cyrodiil.  This race of people are good speakers and have proven themselves as really good diplomats and traders.  These skills combined with their light infantry training has allowed them to subdue all other provinces.

Name: Khajiit (Morrowind Khajiit will be from the Suthay-Raht type)
Classification: Beast
Homeland: Elseweyr
Characteristics: Naturally agile beast race.

The Khajit are from the province of Elsweyr and can vary  from something that looks like a jaguar man to almost elven in appearance.  This race favors their natural weapons, "claws," to fight and their natural abilities: intelligence, quick, and agile, make them very strong thieves and assassins.

Characteristics: Warrior human race, resistant to cold.

Nords come from the realm of Skyrim and are an aggressive, strong, and hardy race.  They are known for their amazing immunity towards frost including magical frost and their resistance to shock.  This race is good for those who want to become warriors.

Characteristics: Strong and hardy beast race.

Orcs are from the province of Wrothgarian and Dragontail Mountain and a very strong and hardy race.  They are known for their courage in battle.  Orcs are prized for their armorers and their heavy armored warriors who are the finest front line troops.

Characteristics: Tough human warrior race.

These dark skinned warriors from Hammerfell are fiercely proud  who due to their independence are much better fighting alone then in filed ranks.  They are also the strongest race with a Long Blade.

Name: Wood Elves (also Bosmer)
Classification: Elf
Homeland: Valenwood
Characteristics: Naturally agile elf race, skilled in archery.

The "Wood Elves" who call themselves the "Bosmer," meaning the "Tree Sap" people, live in the vicinity of the Western Vallenwood forests.  They're natural agility, speed, and quick thinking make them perfect for scouts, agents, thieves, and assassins.  And they're Archery skill is unrivaled in all of Tamriel.
